PuijkBlueberries

Growing blueberries and making the plant is a profession in itself. Thanks to our years of experience in substrate cultivation, we can guarantee the optimal blueberry plant.

Our blueberry plants

The blueberry belongs to the Ericacae family, the heath family. Like most members of this family, blueberries require acidic soil to grow.

The blueberry belongs to the subfamily of the Vaccinioideae, more specifically to the genus Vaccinium. There are 3 types of this genus that are grown commercially: the lowbush (V. angustifolium), the rabbiteye (V. ashei) and the highbush (V. corymbosum). It is the latter, the high bush, that is grown in Europe. In addition to species suitable for cultivation, there are also species that occur in the wild, such as the blueberry (V. myrtillus) and the cranberry (V. oxycoccos).
