Blackberries

Growing blackberries is in our blood, this has been one of our specialties since the 1970s. We ensure that the delicate fruit is undamaged and picked at the right time. Our blackberry cultivation is covered, so weather influences play less of a role and we can guarantee quality.

Redcurrant

By using different redcurrant varieties, we can supply all year round. We also use ULO/CA storage. This specialized storage allows us to store the berries for up to 9 months after picking. We also pack and sort the red berries. Because we control the entire process, the quality remains high and the lines of communication are short.

Raspberries

While Grandpa Jo still grew in the ground, nowadays raspberries are only grown on substrate. This means we use water and fertilizers sustainably and we also need fewer or no crop protection products.
In terms of quality, PuijkFruit raspberries are among the best in the Netherlands, with a characteristic coarseness, taste and shelf life.

About PuijkFruit

It all started in the 1970s, when Jo van Wijngaarden, in addition to his work as a bricklayer, grew strawberries and blackberries in the summer.

At this time, the cultivation of strawberries was very extensive and was often done in addition to employment. At that time there were many small companies that brought their fruit to the auctions, which was a nice addition to the wages. All of this was driven more by passion than money. In addition to strawberries and blackberries, Jo later also grew raspberries, which continued until his retirement. Lia, Jo's daughter, regularly helped pick and maintain the strawberries, blackberries and raspberries. She married Hans Sr. who cheerfully helped. In 1989, a piece of land was purchased nearby, initially intended for strawberry cultivation. The attention soon shifted to blackberries, raspberries and red currants.

A new plot was planted in 2007. The cooling facilities were also expanded. This made it possible to store the entire production in cold rooms. Due to the growing demand for sweet cherries, their cultivation was also started. In the early 1990s, long-term storage of red currants was also started. These berries were stored in the cold room for a long time in order to increase the sales period.
